Back in May I wrote about an Applescript to speak the time aloud: Speak the time or date with Applescript. That post has details of how to get the date or time and have the computer speak them in a sensible manner.
Change the loudness of the speech
After I’d used that script for a while I thought I’d quite like to be sure the speech was good and loud. I didn’t want to just reset the computer’s volume (loudness) though.
Instead I wanted to capture the current volume, speak the time loudly, then reset to the previous volume.
After a bit of messing about, here’s what I came up with, thanks largely to a forum post from someone called Camelot.
-- get and save the current volume level set curVolume to output volume of (get volume settings) -- set volume to loud set newVolume to 70 set volume output volume newVolume -- say something say "Hi Miraz." -- set volume to saved value set volume output volume curVolume
I’ve done some testing and it works nicely. Use the Comments to let us know if this helps you at all.
