Between our bach and the beach are two tiny lakes which always have interesting wildlife in them. A pair of black swans raise babies each year. There are ducks of various kinds, dragonflies, pukeko, and sometimes Royal Spoonbills visit.
When we passed by today though the frogs were singing. With dogs leads in one hand and iPhone in the other I made a short video.
One of the things I love about our beach property is the diverse wildlife round about. A couple of weeks ago the land was alive with baby rabbits — cute, even if they are a pest. We see hawks, geese, shags, swallows, yellowhammers, chaffinches, pheasants, and all kinds of other birds. Cows often graze the paddock next door, and there are horses across the road.
You definitely don’t get all that in Wellington!
